EPI-NO Canada was founded by a mom with a passion for health and wellness who recognized a void, saw an opportunity and then developed it into a business. When pregnant with her first child, Kim Vopni learned about a pelvic floor wellness product from her midwives called the EPI-NO. After some internet research she learned how the unit would assist with strengthening the pelvic floor and stretching the perineum prior to childbirth. Having a background in fitness, the idea of stretching and strengthening in preparation for a physical event made perfect sense.
Her first son was born in 2004 weighing 8 pounds 3 ounces, measuring 53 cm long and with a head circumference of 35.5 cm. He crowned sideways which is the widest way possible and her midwives and the attending nurse were amazed to find no tearing or abrasions whatsoever. While she also credits her amazing midwives, Kim believes her use of the EPI-NO contributed to her perineum remaining intact. As a result of her positive experience, she felt compelled to share her story and in so doing, realized few people knew about this product! Recognizing this as an opportunity, Kim contacted the manufacturer and founded EPI-NO Canada in 2004. Kim focused initially on pelvic floor wellness for pre and post natal women yet always knew the incontinence and proactive care products needed a voice as well. It is Kim’s vision to provide women at all life’s stages, access to information, products and resources that will educate and support their pelvic floor wellness.
Kim holds a BA in Psychology from the University of Western Ontario and a Post Graduate Diploma in Health and Fitness from Simon Fraser University. She began her fitness career in 1996 leading classes and clients in both one on one and group sessions. In 2004 after the birth of her first son, her company EPI-NO Canada was also born and has evolved into a women’s wellness company with a special emphasis on prenatal and postpartum moms. Kim is a Can-Fit-Pro Certified Personal Trainer, she is qualified in the Tupler Technique for Diastasis Recti rehab and is currently pursuing her pre/post natal fitness consultant certification.
